I stayed at the Smart Russell Square Hostel for 3 days in september 2017 in a 15 bed standard shared dormitory. The beds are unacceptable for people taller than 185 cm. I´m about 190 cm tall and i could not lay streched out - very uncomfortable. The 15 bed room was very small for the number of people sleeping there and poorly ventilated, hence the room smelled terribly. The lights would be on in the middle of the night for hours cause of people coming in and out, therefore sleeping through was not possible. The bed quality itself was sufficient and the beds seemed to be quite solid. It might be the cheapest room available at this hostel but even if you are on a budget i would really not recommend sleeping there. Invest a few pounds more per night to have less people in the room and have a way better sleep and therefore more energy to explore this beautiful megacity. The bathrooms were ok, only downside was that you couldn´t control cold or hot water. You´d just have to hope that warm water comes out of the shower head(which was the case 2 out of 3 days:). The breakfast consisted of basic cereal and oatmeal, some toast alongside nutella, jam, orange juice and coffee. For 2 bucks the breakfast there´s nothing to complain about. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
