Between hotels.com and this hotel, I am completely unsatisfied. I have been booking through hotels.com for years at this hotel as this is a yearly trip for me. I have always booked as a single traveler and a double bed room. In all of my years booking this way, this was the first year it became an issue. My husband and elderly mother have always been with for my trips. It has always been the same guy running the hotel but this year was all new people. Upon checkin, the clerk failed to notify me of any issues with my booking. She checked me in and I went about my day. Four days later the manager knocks on my door to tell me I owe an additional $500 if I want to continue my stay. I paid in full and upfront to get any discounts that may apply. I booked for 7 days but was being told that that money I paid to hotels.com only covered for the rest of that day unless the additional $500 was paid to cover the remaining 3 days. I had no choice but to pay this money or risk losing somewhere to stay or having my belongings held hostage. The hotel claims that they needed to charge me for the extra people in my room. They charged me an additional $65 per person per day but yet if I had modified my booking with hotels.com, it would have only been an additional $6.50 per person. Due to the hotel waiting 4 days to notify me of such charges, hotels.com refuses to do anything because I failed to modify my booking before checkin. Had i known this at checkin, this could have been avoided.
