This was my last overnight stay during my recent trip to Australia and a real disappointment. I arrived in the morning but could not check in (OK, given that the check in time is 14h). The room was one floor below the top-floor restaurant and seemed nice when I checked in around 16h. After a couple of hours, things got really noisy when the room next door was occupied by a family with a newborn screaming constantly. In addition, a noisy, brawling party started in the restaurant upstairs. At first, I put up with it hoping that the kid would keep quiet and the noise upstairs would stop when the restaurant closes. Instead, it became worse and the receptionist said the event would go beyond normal restaurant hours. Hence, I asked for a different room. But the new room was a disaster, less comfortable in terms of the interior and smelling muffy and smoky, a fact acknowledged by receptionist on duty at that time. Apparently, it was the last room they had, so I was forced to stay in a smelly room to get some sleep or to go back to the noisy room to get no sleep. The WORST of the whole experience however happened during the next morning when I confronted the front desk with the facts acknowledged the night before. Not only did they deny this, they sent someone up to check claiming the room smells fine. This was the worst treatment that I ever received. I was fed-up and did not want to accept the free breakfast offered. Actually, I could not as I had to catch my flight back to Europe.
