I booked based on rave reviews and the vibrant photos online. However, upon arrival, I was immediately disappointed. The hotel looks old and dingy from the outside, and unfortunately, things didn’t improve when I entered my room.
My room was dark, dank, and had an unpleasant smell. Nothing like what was advertised in the pictures. The online images show bright, colorful spaces with nice furniture, but the reality was far from that. The furniture is SEVERELY worn and outdated. This hotel obviously hasn’t seen any renovations in at least 15 years.
I chatted with a couple staying right next door to me, and they felt the same way. They were just as disappointed with the outdated rooms and would not recommend it.
Adding to the disappointment, there’s nothing immediately around the hotel. You can only walk to the beach. Also, the food at the hotel is incredibly expensive! I ordered sea bass and a drink and it came out to $65!
Where you stay on vacation can really impact your overall experience, and unfortunately, staying here was the low point of my trip to Costa Rica. If I’d known how outdated and misleading this hotel was, I would never have booked it. Thankfully, I’m only here for three nights. If my stay were any longer, I would have left.
What saved this place from being a complete disaster was the staff. They were wonderful—welcoming, helpful, and attentive. The hotel was also very clean.
Overall, this hotel did not meet my standards. False advertising & confusing reviews.
