Overall the main reason for staying at this lodge was the game drives. As this property is located on the north side of the Nile there is no need to wait for the car ferry crossin, this gave us an advantage of being the first ones in the park for the safari.
Although the location is great there were a few areas of concern. Our bedsheets has a stain before we had even slept in it. Although quickly rectified by house keeping it made for a very uncomfortable stay. The rooms are very outdated, an awful smell in the bathroom. The showers are tiny and the shower curtains looked like they were about 30 years old. Some of the paint was peeling on the walls. The food is bad, it’s a buffet at all times of the day and looks very repetitive and not appetising at all. At the evening bbq we had one of the waiters kiss his teeth at us because we had no idea which waiter had served us our drinks, highly unprofessional. They clearly need a better process of remembering the drinks given to their customers. The literature in the bedroom is full of spelling mistakes, it doesn’t take a few minutes for someone to proof read. This just made the lodge feel very ammature.
Overall good location is the only positive I can give. The lodge is in need of an upgrade, it doesn’t appear to be aging well. For the price they charge I would expect a few amendments to be made. It feels very 2-3 star at max.
