If one needs to stay in the Maidan area, two minutes walk from the Square, then Senator Maidan is a good choice.
The room was spacious with a safebox that worked, the receptionist was friendly and spoke well English, there is an elevator, and perhaps best of all, there is no noise from traffic on this side street off Maidan. There was a fridge and tea/coffee maker in the room. 24 hours reception. The interior design of the room is towards the modern, perhaps a little dark, but overall a pleasent feel. I didn't arrive before early so I don't know how they would have handled that. 10 minutes walk to the Metro, easy access by taxi.
On he negative side: Breakfast could be better, but it was not disastrous. It would have been nice with a bathtub but that said the bathroom was clean, warm and spacious.
I found that the price / quality ratio was a bit too the expensive side, though not excessive. Had the price been 20% lower, then for Kiev it would have been a perfect calibration, but this is of cause a highly subjective issue.
I will most like book a room at Senator Maidan again another time when I want to be in the Maidan area.
