Finally, I was able to visit the Avani Riverside again. As always, I enjoyed the nice atmosphere, the beautiful rooms, the great roof terrace lounge and the easy access to the city by hotel boat.
This time, however, several events came together that might make me stay away from the hotel permanently in the future.
First of all, the quality of a hotel is not determined by a nice lobby, but by how they handle problems when something doesn't work.
a) On two nights the lights kept switching on and off for no apparent reason. There must be a problem with the circuits. So the last night there was no sleep. A screaming baby in the next room didn't make things any better.
b) Some other, smaller things were broken or missing from the room. Nothing critical - but I also mentioned this when checking out.
The staff were completely ignorant about it. Worse still, there was no word of regret, let alone any sort of redress for the initial problem. They didn't take any notes - so subsequent guests will experience the same. When I wrote to the management a week ago, there was no response - even after a reminder.
So I am now bringing the experience to this platform.
I really like this hotel - and I really regret the poor management in this case.
