This place is fine. It is clean, the location is great and the shower is heavenly. That said Ash&9th has the single worst pillows I’ve ever had to use anywhere - including tent camping. I’m used to bad pillows at Motels but these were next level. They’re thick, dense, lumpy balls - they’re not even pillow shaped. It’s clear that no one involved in running the place or doing the ordering has ever bothered to try and sleep with these things or they would know how bad they are.
The building is really just an old Motel 6 or Super 8 type motel with a fresh coat of paint. But even Motel 6 puts out some free muffins and yogurt with the coffee in the morning. Here I had to pay $$ for a couple stale Uncrustables from a half empty freezer - and then the guy at the desk gently accused me of shoplifting because he wasn’t paying attention and didn’t hear the beep when my Apple Pay went through at the self-service kiosk.
Is any of this a deal breaker on its own? No. But at $200/night (on discount), it starts to feel like I could probably find somewhere a lot nicer for just a little bit more money.
Oh and they only gave us one key for three people.
