Punta Faro is based on Isla Mucura, a beautiful tropical island which you reach after a 2 hour boat journey from Bocagrande. The island is very well maintained, with an idyllic private beach, great water for swimming (quite rare around Cartagena / Santa Marta). You are free to explore, although the island is small so there's not a huge amount to see. We kayaked around the island, which takes the best part of an hour, and that was one of our favorite parts of our stay.
Rooms are clean and comfortable, but fairly basic, with no hot water, which is understandable given the remote location. Meal times are fixed and are buffet style - the food is nice and is plentiful, although not hugely inspiring. Drinks were nice, fairly priced, and there's a 2 hour happy hour to take advantage of, which was fun. It was quiet / low season when we were there, and most people went to bed right after dinner (wwaa wwwaaaaa...), so this is much more suited to a very relaxing, peaceful stay, good for families too as it's totally safe. Not really the place to go if you want to party.
Overall, we really enjoyed it and would go back. 2, 3 or possibly 4 nights is probably a good amount of time there.
