Argostoli Essence Suites is a small boutique style hotel, just a short walk from the pedestrianised main street and square.
The staff are all incredibly friendly, you get a very bespoke and helpful service. Dimitris in particular was excellent, offering to help via WhatsApp with car hire and plenty of local advice.
There are 8 rooms and we stayed in Room 201 on the first floor (above ground level) with a balcony overlooking a church with partial sea and mountain views. If you're awake early the sunrise view is impressive.
The bed was comfortable with high quality linens. The room had a superb open-plan bathroom with his/hers showers and sinks with Molton Brown toiletries that were topped up daily.
The bedroom had a beautiful contemporary large fitted wardrobe with lots of storage space as well as a minibar and a Nespresso pod coffee machine.
You can select up to 4 dishes per person for breakfast, our highlights were the pancakes and traditional dishes such as pies, bougatsa and riganada.
The only slight disappointment was the pool area - we were expecting a larger pool area with sun loungers or deck chairs, instead the pool area is very small with no real area to relax outside - except for the cafe style breakfast tables and chairs. Also, despite being "adults only" accommodation there were some young children during our stay.
Overall we would highly recommend this accommodation as a base to explore Kefalonia from, the staff are exceptional and the rooms are beautiful.
