Esme Miami Beach has many things going for it, but unfortunately many things that hold it back too.
I’ll start with the pros:
Location is great, Española Way is a cool location and it’s a stones throw from the beach.
Rooftop bar, this is excellent and by far the best thing about the hotel, nice little pool there and comfy seating. This is a lovely setting.
Now for the cons:
Room size. The rooms are tiny, we had a superior king room with a balcony and the room itself was tiny and the balcony was so small it was unusable.
Bathroom, every time we used the sink or flushed the toilet a high pitched squeak would start and last about 5 minutes, very annoying.
Noise, part of the location is also a con. The bars and restaurants play very loud music until about 1am and the rooms soundproofing was abysmal. The balcony doors didn’t seal when they were shut so let a huge amount of noise in. This absolutely ruined our sleep quality. The walls are also very thin, we could hear the people in the room next door snoring as if they were in the room with us.
Maid service, this was inconsistent and usually done very late in the day. Towels and linens were tatty and frayed which also wasn’t ideal.
This place could be an excellent hotel experience, but ultimately a lot lets it down. Not sure how Michelin are scoring hotels but a 1 key hotel doesn’t match up to a 1* restaurant.
