We spent an entire week at the Belcove and when we arrived, we did take a deep breath as we were assigned a room with blue walls and no windows, but hey: you get what you pay for. And really: we had all we needed…functioning wifi, functioning AC, functioning hot shower and (relatively) comfortable beds. We did have to ask for the room to be cleaned / fresh towels and had to pay for a late checkout but overall, it was good value for money. The outside area is not safe at night (and it gets dark early), but during the day, you‘re ideally located - very close to the water taxi, the grocery stores and a clothing store. There’s no restaurant in the hotel and many of the cafes nearby are only open when there are cruiseships in town but we walked 20 min to a waterside restaurant and it was nice. The only bad experience came at the very end: one morning receptionist called a „cab“ for us that was not the official transport but rather a private car from a friend of hers. We refused to get in as there were two people sitting in the front with empty alcohol bottles everywhere AND the door handles on both sides had been ripped out!! We’re not sure if they were actually dangerous but ordered another car and only made it to the airport when it was time for boarding. But overall, we were able to spend a week at a reasonable price and save our money for some amazing activities so we would recommend Belcove to any budget-conscious travelers.
