If you are looking for a hotel with nice amenities and comfort this is not going to be for you. This is an old school, bare bones place. Having said that, it is impeccably clean and the staff could not be nicer. It also has a full kitchen which we did not need. It also would’ve been nice to have a Brita pitcher to make filtered water and extra toilet paper.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The hotel was very dated, but comfortable, great location and safe very helpful. Te accommodation was clean and very quiet. The sofa bed was not comfortable and my teenage kids complained it was not the best bed. I would recommend this place.

The Cal Mar Hotel is only 2 blocks to Pacific Palisades, park over-looking the Pacific Coast Highway, which provides you with outstanding photo opportunities of the expansive beach, the world-famous Santa Monica Pier and gorgeous sunsets! This hotel is a boutique property with all rooms having full kitchen and surrounding the small, but lovely pool. Each room has either 1 king-size bed or 2 double beds, but all have queen-size sofa-sleepers in the living room which increases the # that each room can accommodate.

Very clean and no bugs in room. Hot shower every day with very good water pressure. No AC in room but was okay with the overhead fans and oscillating fans. All of the staff were friendly. Plenty of parking for the guests. Our dishes were done by the cleaning staff every day. We had to buy some cooking utensils as the room didn’t have a spatula or cutting knives. Would definitely go back.
