6/10 – Gut

Disappointing experience with inflexible management
I booked a Superior room but was initially assigned an accessible room designed for guests with disabilities. When I requested a standard room as originally booked, I was charged a supplement – an unacceptable practice for a hotel in this category.
The staff operates with the rigidity of civil servants: procedurally correct but completely inflexible. Any deviation from standard protocol seems impossible, regardless of the circumstances.
Skip the breakfast. The beachfront cafés along Barra offer far superior quality at half the price. The hotel’s breakfast room resembles a ferry cafeteria – relentlessly noisy and packed with screaming young children. Not the atmosphere one expects when paying premium rates.
Unfortunately, this reflects the broader reality of Barra: large convention hotels designed for mass tourism and corporate events. The Windsor fits squarely in this category – efficient processing of guests with minimal attention to individual service. If you’re attending a conference or need beachfront access, it serves its purpose. If you’re seeking genuine hospitality, look elsewhere in Rio.
