About the only good things I can say about this place is that it was a great location, most of the staff were pleasant, and the cleaning staff was always cleaning the bathrooms.
They advertise that they have an elevator and bar, but the elevator is iffyâŠ. There is a sign posted that you should only use the elevator if you really need toâŠ. On both our arrival and departure, it was not working at all, leaving us to carry our luggage up and down four flight of stairs. Not so bad (probably), if you donât have old, arthritic knees. Also, there is no barâŠ. Just a space that used to be a bar.
They also advertise a rooftop patio, which they did have, however, it was not the relaxing haven one might envision - more of an open air smokers lounge, with views of the taller buildings around you.
They also advise they have vending machinesâŠ. That is, there is one, located on the third floor, and if youâre unfortunate enough to be staying on this floor, you get the profound pleasure of being kept up all night by fellow hostel guests trying to decide what they want as a snack after stumbling in from the pub crawlsâŠ. Donât worry though, youâll fall asleep somewhere between 3:30 and 4:00âŠ. And youâll finally get a couple of hours sleep before they start restocking the vending machine around 6:30 a.mâŠ.
The final pieces of advice, have a high tolerance for people shouting conversations up and down the stairwell, anticipate the smell of sewer gases fr the restrooms, & bring a pillow.
