It was beautiful. We had an awesome time. We stayed in the oceanfront room. The plunge pool was the best. Everything about our stay was so relaxing. I especially loved all of the plants and flowers around the property. The food was delicious. My only complaint is that the drinks were very expensive. But I was fine to just have water.

The room design, quality of food, beach and pool area were all fantastic. But, disappointingly, our experience of staying at Kymaia was let down on several fronts. If you're looking for a genuine five star experience, then I feel it's important to feedback that you won't find this at Kymaia. The general level of service was really lacking (no typical Mexican charm, grace or warmth), we had issues with breakfast and the lack of menu choice at lunch and dinner, and the location has some fallbacks in terms of accessibility and proximity to amenities/towns.

The staff welcomed us with such warmth and care, and the little touches—like refreshing popsicles on a hot day—immediately set the tone. The location is peaceful and quiet, perfect for truly unwinding. Our room was absolutely breathtaking—open, minimal, and thoughtfully designed with unique details throughout. It felt like a space intentionally created to help you disconnect from the outside world. The shower was spacious, with shutters you could open for an even more immersive experience, and the toilet featured a bidet, which was a nice added touch. The staff was exceptional—kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The food was outstanding, with beautifully delicate and intentional flavors. The pool area was just as impressive—large, relaxing, and never overcrowded. They also offer a cold plunge, which we had never tried before, but it quickly became one of our favorite ways to cool off and reset in the heat. There were plenty of comfortable lounge options, including seating with stunning ocean views. The entire property has such an incredible vibe—peaceful, elevated, and effortlessly beautiful. A special thank you to Mao (apologies if I misspelled the name), who was especially kind and helpful throughout our stay.

Kymaia se va a convertir en el estándar con el que otros hoteles de gran lujo tendrán que medirse en Puerto Escondido. El hotel se abrió a principios de este año y tuve el privilegio de ir descubriendo poco a poquito los muchos detalles que le dan una personalidad única a las instalaciones, a través de su elegante arquitectura que es una amalgama chic-minimalista Zen que se fusiona con la geometría de las culturas locales Olmecas, Zapoteca y Mixteca.
