Coyaba Tropical Elegant Adult Guesthouse

Very cool place, attention to detail everywhere. Really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and friendly people. Breakfast was amazing.

We found this wonderful place on Expedia after finding the name on a search of Google maps of the road between Quepos and Manuel Antonio.... Mike, Paul, Brian, and Darling made this much needed vacation a real restorative experience. I here refer directly to all the people who made the place and make the daily environment so lovely and tranquil. I slept better here than I have ever slept; we didn't do breakfast but enjoyed sleeping in after rolling over to the distant sound of early morning laughter of the staff and guests. It's easy to get around by bus, so getting to the beach and town is easy, and there are good restaurants within easy walking distance.... But toward the end of our stay we finally used the car we had rented. One day we drove to a no-tourists-but-us destination: a reservation Mike had suggested -- crazy beautiful road up a mountain ridge brought us to the mountain town where famous masks are crafted and sold by the indigenous population. On our last day, Mike accompanied/directed to us to a spice farm and to Los Campesinos, a protected area with hanging bridges and waterfalls. Other highlights included: an early morning knock on the door -- Brian alerting us to the tribe of Titi monkeys that had come to the property; Scarlet Macaws flying over quite regularly; comings and goings of other friendly guests. Oh, and the place is immaculate.

When we booked Coyaba Tropical Elegant Adult Guesthouse, we were looking for a quiet and clean place to stay while we explored Quespos and surrounding areas. Little did we know what a very special guesthouse this was and how staying here would make our trip over the top awesome. Walking in is like entering a fantasy tropical paradise especially entering in the evening with all the twinkling lights overhead and around the property. The grounds are stunning. The outside living room was so serene to relax in after a hot and busy day. The pool was so refreshing to jump into after a day in the hotter than a bathtub Pacific Ocean. The rooms were spotless and decorated simple but tropical. As much as all these things were outstanding, the truly greatest reason to stay here is Mike and Paul, the owners; and Bryan, their staff. You will not find nicer, friendly and more helpful people anywhere. Paul's breakfasts were perfect. He makes his own bread, so yummy. You can have meatless or meat options. Bryan will schedule and arrange any of your tours. Mike is a fountain of knowledge. In the evening, if they are done for the day, they will sit and have the greatest conversations with you. Wonderful, wonderful people. We would find ourselves looking forward to coming "home" each day to relax and enjoy the guesthouse. We hope to return some day.

It was a small intimate property. Well situated in the area The owners who are on site are great and very accommodating Definitly will come again

We booked a room with two beds on Expedia a few weeks ahead of arrival time. When we arrived, we rang the door and nobody opened the door. Our taxi driver called them on the phone and then someone opened the gate. The hotel was empty, no guests, no staff, just one guy who didn’t speak a word in English and lots of wondering dogs. One dog leaked my foot twice. He showed us to a room (#4) with one bed whereas we booked a room with two beds. Then we were shown to a room (#3) with two beds. The room was very dirty, it looked like it wasn’t cleaned in months. We found a dead dry roach on the floor, the toilet plastic seat was visibly dirty, we wiped it with toilet paper and soap and removed the dirt. We then noticed how dirty the floors were, took a towel and wiped it in the bathroom, then another one to wipe in the room. One swipe with a towel was enough to make a white towel black. At that point it was obvious- the room was not acceptable. We then saw a third room underneath and interestingly enough it was just as filthy as the room #3. Same dirty toilet seat, dirty floors, dead bugs, flies on the bed sheets, stained bedding. We wanted to cancel and get remboursement. We got on the phone with Mike, he refused to reimburse, refused to compensate, just offered to clean the room. We were so desperate that we even considered a small room with one bed, but it had MOLD on pillows and bedsheets!!!!!! The mold, the dirt we saw did not appear over a night. The place is empty and it’s not

The property is situated in an extremely popular tourist area so the crowds and the traffic can be an issue for some. By being back from the road and up a slight hill the hustle bustle is reduced to practically nothing.The rooms are modern and spotless,and the common areas around the pool are resplendent with interesting architecture and wonderful landscaping.The owners, Michael and Paul treat guests like old friends and are happy to provide tips and useful information.Thoroughly enjoyed our stay...TB and RG.

AN incredible experience, can't say enough about the hospitality

Really comfortable stay, owners were knowledgeable bad helpful. Mike and Paul (owners) have a great location, beautiful garden and pool was a great addition after a hot day. Paul makes amazing breakfasts which was different every day, so well worth it! Mike referred us to Roger, a local guide for Manuel Antonino Park. Roger was excellent. He was knowledgeable, found us some amazing animals to see and had lots of local stories to augment our experience. Definitely would come back.

Wonderful hosts who put a lot of heart into this place. Hotel is lovely, rooms are clean and stylish, and here are many fun things to do in the area. Highly recommend.
