Quirk Hotel Richmond, a Destination by Hyatt Hotel

Convenient location and I enjoyed that there was a coffee bar in the lobby as well as a coffee shop across the street.

I have wanted to stay at Quirk since it opened and was very disappointed when I finally got my chance. There were brown stains on the towels and the under side of the comforter and significant mold in the sink. We could hear our neighbors talking, moving around, and slamming doors all night and there is no ventilation fan in the bathroom, so after just two days of two people showering and using the sink, the humidity was high enough for the bedding to be slightly damp and the windows on the other side of the room were foggy. Our options for parking were to adjust our plans in order to feed the $8 meter every 12 hours or pay the hotel $12/day to park in a lot that is not properly marked, making it unclear as to the legality of leaving your car. Room service and housekeeping have been discontinued due to the pandemic, the former doesn’t make sense as alternative dining is in a big, risky group at the restaurant/bar. In conclusion, I paid extra for the boutique experience and got a moist, dirty room, unsatisfactory parking options, and limited services. The hotel is cute, but not worth it.

This was an excellent boutique hotel with a lot of history. Nice rooms, very clean, and excellent attentive staff. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

It’s a nice hotel. Just not worth the price. The room is just a big empty space, little to no amenities or character. Nothing was wrong or off, the service was good, wifi worked, downstairs lobby and rooftop bar were very nice. It’s walking distance to many nice places to eat and drink.

I appreciate the ease and safety precautions upon entering and checking in. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the room was not up to par even by non-covid standards. The remote had clear residue on the buttons. It also had a strong foul smell as if someone may have vomited on it. This made me question all the buttons, switches and handles around the room that are high touch areas are well cleaned. There were also missed spots of crumbs and trash from the previous stay beside the bed. The main highlight was the friendly staff in the lobby and art gallery. Art gallery is well curated. Would definitely visit that again.
