The hotel staff was great! Very polite and eager to help, always. They were a little understaffed, so the service was slow in the restaurants and the italian was closed on Saturday night. Great rooms and amenities, VIP gold status totally worth it. I would go again.

The beach was not the best for swimming, but the pools made up for that. There is much walking involved at the resort and some hills to climb, but they have a car service to get you where you want to go. Just dial 0 and someone will come to pick you up. The staff is outstanding willing to cater to all your needs. The food was excellent. I would stay here again

We loved Costa Rica it was her first time and we wanted to do everything. Secrets was a great jumping spot for that and had plenty to do during the day great bars and great dining experiences at night. I will say the spa has not been updated as most Secrets have with the Hydro therapy etc. so my husband and I were disappointed in our expensive couples massage. Fair warning to those with back or any issues this is a very hilly resort and you take a shuttle everywhere and or walking up and down hills. The beach is not as bad as it looks in pictures I spent many days out there and the water was very clear and able to snorkel easily

The first meeting was rushed and the information was not easy to hear. It was more of a sales meeting. Felt pressured to buy something. The dinner on the beach was wasted money. On the other hand, the staff was the best we have ever seen.

Small, really small pool with too many people in in. Limited sun beds around the pool, no shade. Dinner - long wait, 1 and 1/2 hours to get table. Food 50% of the time impossible to eat, service at the dinner is lacking. Mobility at the resort is limited to shuttle or walk up and down steep hills. Granted, shuttle comes to pick you up quickly and drives work very hard to get everyone to where they going. Beach, nice little beach with soft sand and calm water, but hotel did very little to make it comfortable. Similar to public beach environment, not hotel property.

All was good except that we needed a ride every time we go to or from our room. Electrical cars will be preferable and not that noisy. Also we could head everything through the closed door.

Started with a room upgrade and preferred guest status. Fantastic corner room with panoramic ocean views. Even our shower had a window To this panoramic view. Loved the coziness and laid back atmosphere of the resort. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway, this is definitely the right resort for you. Definitely what my wife and I were looking for and needed. If you’re looking for non stop entertainment, party scene, beach club atmosphere, look elsewhere. I’m happy this hotel was not that. Staff were very friendly, except for one hostess who always seemed to be that she was being bothered. Didn’t see her crack a smile the entire week we were there. Thankfully the rest of the team superseded that. Food was very good throughout the different restaurants. Not having to run to the beach to reserve chairs was great, because everyone was by the pool, it made it a lot easier. Did not even dip my toes in the pool when there’s a beautiful beach steps away. Want to thank JJ, Alen and Juan for adding to our memorable vacation. Cons: Nothing noteworthy enough to be stated.

We really enjoyed our stay at Secrets. The food at all of the restaurants was really good. We also utilized room service on several occasions, and it was excellent. We booked as “preferred” customers, so we had access to all amenities. Our suite was very comfortable, Wi-Fi access and air conditioning worked great. We had a beautiful, secluded room just above the beach so we were able to walk everywhere in the resort easily. Some of the rooms require a shuttle to access most of the resort. The only improvements I would suggest is that the resort is starting to be in need of repair. The roofs and sidewalks especially are starting to need repairs. Also, they tell you there is a mini-bar in your room, but that consists of two shooters per day (one rum and one vodka). Not really a mini-bar. Overall, I would really recommend Secrets Papagayo!

Read the fine print. Upgraded minibar was rubbish. Room was nice. Paid extra for plunge pool and it was worth it. Room service took minimum 40mins. Even for just a beer.
