Santa Juana Lodge and Nature Reserve

Perfect place to unwind and be in direct contact with nature. The service was flawless, what an amazing experience.

This is by far the best place you can stay at in this part of town. The hotel is extremely clean and the service is remarkable. The hotel staff does their best to accommodate your every need. Staff went out of their way to provide my group with an earlier breakfast since we had to leave for a tour before the regular breakfast time. It is just overall very beautiful and a complete Oasis surrounded by all the wonders of nature.

The Lodge is a 10, the road getting to it not so much. It takes about 45 minutes from the main drag and a good four-wheel-drive vehicle to get there but it is worth it. The rooms are the best I’ve seen in Costa Rica and the view and surroundings are wonderful. It is quiet and restful, you won’t go clubbing because you won’t want to drive the road at night. You will most likely eat at the Lodge but the food is excellent and dirt cheap. For dinners with two bottles of wine and a few beers came to $62. You won’t find those prices anywhere else in Costa Rica.

It was just wonderful. The land was beautiful, the staff was tremendously attentive and the lodge was lovely. We had a great time with our 3 year old son :)

This place is heaven. The houses are very comfortable and the food was delicious.

There is wi-fi in the main dining area and you can borrow DVDs for the in-room TVs, but there is not a lot nearby so this is more of an “unplug and relax” destination. A long walk or short drive will take you to some wonderful pools and waterfalls on land also managed by the parent company, it was a very easy trail for our 5 year-old, and one of the highlights of our trip. The only tour we took was the coffee tour, which while pricey was a very authentic experience where we met the owner of a small-batch farm and participated in the end-to-end process including picking beans from the plants. The Campseino cuisine is the “typical food” plate and while tasty the meals do get familiar after several days. Meals are served in a communal area where you can keep to yourself or socialize with guests at the other tables. While we came from the San Jose airport via the mountain route, given we were in a 2WD car we should have taken the route via Quepos instead. The entire staff there is very warm and friendly, and most of them seem to live nearby. You can also feel good about staying here as most of the revenue is reinvested in land conservation and sustainability projects for the local area.

The drive up we wondered if we had gotten lost but once there, wow! Great accommodations and excellent staff. Well worth the effort.

Endroit calme pour les amoureux de la nature l endroit est idéale. Vue splendide sur la nature et l on peut voir les plages au loin. Le 4x4 est indispensable. Traversée de ruisseau....... Randonnée splendide..

La vue superbe et l’environnemen Naturel sont les principaux atout sur de ce site. Les oiseaux qu’on peut apercevoir de otrebalcon.
