Worst hotel I ever stayed in. Very nice architecture. We thought of leaving and getting another hotel instead, but the Waitomo area hast not very much accomodations in general.
Old Hotel with nice flair but needs a refurbishment since a lot of years
Essen Abends im Restaurand was SEHR lecker!
Property is a lovely historical hotel but in much need of some love. Our bedroom door was sticky to open and you had to push hard to close. The carpet in the dining room is thread bare and dirty. Filter coffee was delicious at breakfast was was the bacon. Lovely and Smokey. Overall good for a night
Nice looking old hotel from afar. An unkempt mess up close. Gardens and exterior were uncared for, overgrown and not a place for "hanging out". The room was clean, but unfortunately the little milks they give so you can have a coffee curdled mine. Let's talk about the "Jacuzzi" they talk up. We opened the lid and saw a bunch of residue or something in the bottom, and it reeked of moldy/mildew. Needless to say, we didn't get in. They've made the room look like a beautiful old bath house, but without the privacy from the outside world. Think "fishbowl like" windows. It really has the potential to be a beautiful room, but like the rest of the hotel - no one seems to care. The menu was nice. Shame the "flowers" on the table were brown and sitting in brown water. They weren't flowers either, just some shrubbery. The checkin lady was an unfriendly cow. We had a tour that we needed to be at by 2.30pm and it was a 20 minute drive from our accomodation. All we asked was for an extra half hour to check in so we could sort ourselves out. But she wasn't having it. We seemed like an intrusion into her day. This hotel also seems to have signed me up to a random mailing list for Hilton Honors. a) I can't believe this hotel would EVER be part of a hilton group, and b) how rude to do that without permission. Overall, 3-stars. It was a place to sleep and eat. But the owners really should refurbish it to it's rightful glory - and for the love of god, do something about the disgusting spa
beautiful hotel, top of mountain area on its own. close to the caves. lots of things close by to see. took a while for receptionist to show up, parking was full...but found a way without bothering anyone. needs some TLC, beautiful property, getting old. AC needed but fan works. nice people.
Good, safe location. The dinner we had there was excellent! The interior hallways have the most worn out/through, faded carpet I have ever seen 😝 it was disgusting. There was also a strange (not good) odor in the hallway leading to our room. The room needed painting but thank goodness it had newer carpet. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Historic doesn’t have to mean worn out.....please take note property owner
Historical place . Character buiding . Unique to stay in a great buiding . Interesting exploring throughout the hotel.
