Hotel Äppelviken

Quiet and cosy room with a lot of kindness from the staff.

The "Hotel" name gave me an idea that there would be the normal things in a hotel like a reception receiving guests, and bedrooms with a bathroom and shower. However, Hotel Äppelviken has neither, so to me not what I expected, Bed and Breakfast or Lodge-Hostel would be a more accurate description. Some room do have a bathroom with wc, but the ones offered via hotels.com all come with a communal toilet and shower in the corridor. At the low price you pay that's ok, but it'd the hotel name that threw me off. Location is great, if you want to stay in a residential quiet are but still near the city, Äppelviken is is one of the original "Garden Cities" that were built around 1915, and still today retains it original charm and beauty. You have the subway Tbanan within 1 km, and a short walk down to lake Mälaren where there are great walking parts along the water, and opportunities for a swim in the summer

Me and my dad shared a small twin room with en suit wet room/shower and toilet. it was comfortable, clean, and although my dad is used to 5 star hotels, even he didn't think it was too bad. That is, I booked a reasonably priced hotel (this one) on the out skirts of Stockholm so he was not expecting much, but he was more than happy with the place, which means it was good :) Breakfast was nice, a small spread of bread, ham cheese, and cereals with yoghurts, refill coffee and tea. The hotel was not staffed during the day, only at breakfast time, although someone was always on call.

The hotel is mostly self service, key is on a pin board inside the front door and a note where your room is. Breakfast basic and there is a staff person available then. Rooms ok, clean and comfortable enough. Best thing is the reasonable price for inner Stockholm.

The location is perfect at just a short stroll to a tram that will take it to the underground station in juts a couple of minutes. Two nice places to have a coffee nearby in case you did not book the breakfast. Actually it might be a good idea to do that... :)

Visste att rummet saknade egen toalett men ett minus var att toaletten låg så långt ifrån rummet.

Fick inget bra första intryck, eftersom det var en kod för att komma in på hotellet som vi inte hade fått. Inte speciellt rent och ingen reception. Otrevlig personal och dålig frukost. Ingenting jag rekommenderar för en längre vistelse, men funkar väl för en natt...
