Holiday Inn Express and Suites Urbandale

I really liked the King bed room. It was nice and large. The hotel was clean and in a good location near restaurants and the interstate. The pool was also nice.

Staff was good and indoor pool/hot tub was nice. Room was clean. Bed was old and squeaked and creaked with any type of movement making sleep almost impossible.

The hotel did the best that it could considering restrictions created by the pandemic. Probably, the only thing to be concerned about is the policy that housekeeping only cleans the room after 5 days. We stayed two nights, so that wasn't a major consideration -- i did cadge an extra bath towel from the housekeeping staff so my wife an i could each have a clean one for each day (there were 3 on the shelf). Otherwise the facility is clean and the pool and hot tub are good. There is one hot item available for breakfast each morning and a variety of packaged pastries and cereals and fruits.

We got to our room and on the comforter on one of our beds looked like poop smeared. Also our fridge was not working. Took the comforter down stairs. The lady behind the counter(with blonde hair maybe in 50s) said she would get a new one for me. I stood there waiting 20 mins. She brought me a pillow n sheets. I told her i don't need those i need a new comforter she said it was damp and would bring it to my room. its 10p at night. Why would'nt they have another dry blanket to give. Told her I'm not waiting till midnight for a blanket. So mind you we had no blanket to sleep with So i give our son a shower and go to dry him off and they folded the towel so you wouldn't see that there was marker all over it. Then we go to pull out the couch bed and there is no sheets, blanket or pillow any where in the room for that. So my son had no pillow or blanket to sleep with. Mind you he is 7yrs old. I complained to the manager the next morning she tells me they dont put extra stuff in the room. Told her that is not xtra that is for the pull out couch and there should have been stuff in our room for that or when we checked in we should have been told and given the stuff at check in. The lady i first dealt at night ssid it wasn't her fault. Ok well make it right. She did not. The managers excuse was their cleaning people had to be pulled and go to another hotel. I told her that's no excuse and they should have had another clean blanket to give me right away. Not spot wash the pooped one

The lady that checked us in at 4:30 am was amazing!!! After traveling all night and not having a room precooked she was a blessing!! The room was very clean and beds were comfortable!!

Nice hotel and location. One suggestion during this time of COVID is to better advertise that there is not regular breakfast, it is grab and go. I would suggest to provide plastic silverware and napkins in the grab n go bags as well. Otherwise very nice and cofortable beds.

Nice lounge area but when when we went to go sit in there to visit with another couple we were traveling with we were told it was closed.....we wentvand sat outside on the curb instead. Great pool area but there were way too many chemicals in the hot tub. It cjanged the color of several of our swimsuits and burned my eyes and the eyes of two of my children terribly. Had to go to walgreens for drops and those didnt even soothe them. They cried in pain for over an hour. This was super dissapointing because we choose our hotels on whether it has a mice pool and spa and if there is a hot breakfast. There was no hot breakfast- I can understand why due to Covid I guess it would have been nice to know ahead of time. We did appreciate the breakfast bags that were provided. Lastly, also due to Covid, there was no housekeeping services. Again, this would have been nice to know upon check in instead of arriving back after a long day to no fresh towels and unmade beds. For me these are some of the perks of traveling and what I am putting my money towards. Also beds were very noisy/squeaky.

Very nice property, large clean rooms and friendly staff.

Chlorine in pool was so high eyes were watering ,couldn’t stay in hot tub long because of chlorine. Not impressed with rudeness of staff no one answered front desk phone for at least an hour and no one at front desk when we needed extra supplies/towels. loud fridge in room

Liked the hotel Good options for breakfast, clean and loved the size of the suite.
