10/10 Exceptional

I had an amazing experience at Hotel Xbalamqué! The hotel has so much character — from the unique Mayan-inspired decor to the beautiful artwork throughout the property. The atmosphere felt fun, welcoming, and full of charm. The staff was friendly and helpful, always making sure I had what I needed. My room was clean and comfortable, and I loved the little details that made the stay feel special. The location was also super convenient, with lots to explore nearby. If you’re looking for a place in Cancún that’s affordable, full of personality, and not just another generic hotel, I highly recommend Xbalamqué.

Great vale for the price. Hotel needs some renovation but it's clean and cute. Had s lot of potential. Centrally located. Helpful and friendly staff

Harder to get parking because it’s downtown, a few good restaurants around, a market a few minutes walk away. Staff is very nice and helpful, the photos made the room look a little better but still nice for the price. Pool is decent.

The place is convenient and offers enough for the amount they charge. Staff are helpful, place is clean. The only thing is that it’s an old building so expect abit of usual maintenance issues.

10/10 Exceptional

Quaint and comfortable simple clean rooms in a great central location in city center area is near to numerous parks and activities, public transport, and eminently walkable for lots of dining and entertainment options. Staff was excellent. The hotel is undergoing some renovations, which did not disturb my rest at all, but the pool is closed for renovations. It was quiet and easy to sleep at night, but busy and active in the area surrounding the hotel during the day. I safely enjoyed walking all around the area by myself all times of the day and evening. Well lit areas, lots of dining options and music all around.

So much attention to esthetics on the outside and hallways. However, the inside of the room had an Old TV, stained curtains off the hooks, safety lock on window missing screws. Dated furniture that had nothing to do with the Mayan charm marketed. Don’t get me wrong, for the price my expectations were not that high to begin with. But even then, the inside of the room did not meet my expectations. I had room #230 right on the corner intersection with noise coming from both directions until the middle of the night. The only thing this place had going for it was the location. Will definitely NOT stay here again!

We left as soon we’ve seen the room. It was a horrible smell, inexplicably dirty and the towels from white was gray.

To new management: I have been going to this boutique hotel for years. The staff is lovely, the artwork on the building/interior is just amazing and the location is near the bus station/hospital and good restaurants. BUT, new management has decided to do away with one of the best features: the POOL is GONE!!! In all of the advertising, the pool is featured>the pool has been replaced by a "cenote" where you cannot swim!!We were sent over to another hotel's pool to swim in. It is HOT in El Mexico and we need a POOL!!! you have destroyed one of the best features of the property>WHY??? as a long time customer, I want the original pool back, please. AND please change your advertising to reflect this new development. Your advertising at present is completely misleading and customers are upset.VERY DISAPPOINTING>

Great location and charm. Pool area is great, has a retrofit circulation setup. The area is well vegetated for shaded areas and aesthetics but could use a leaf skim 3 times a day. Staff are excellent. The property could use a deep steam clean and freshening up, but is well cleaned. They will need some pre updating to avoid becoming a rundown establishment in the next 2 years. Only critical concern was not having a TV to cast to and internet dropping for a minute or two. We stayed 8 nights and enjoyed ourselves and would recommend staying here in the near future. And yes they have a famous public spa, a massage for 870 pesos for 80min. Plus 3 min walk to la Parrilla restaurant.
David, 8-night trip

The hotel was clean and we really enjoyed the swimming pool and the spa. We both had hot rock massage. The front desk staff were very helpful in getting information about taxis and buses. The TV in the room was an old tube style TV you can only get Mexican channels and you cannot connect With your tablet to watch English movies and YouTube. There is no microwave or fridge in the rooms. We bought a cooler box and bought ice. We would gladly stay again. The restaurants nearby are reasonably priced and good. The hotel is close to the R1 bus For going to the beach. It is also close to ADO.
Rodney, 7-night trip

This is a budget property. Don’t be fooled by the pictures. The windows were open and bugs were coming into the room when I got there. They give you three remotes. One for tv. One for cable box. And one for ac. You must return these to front desk or you get charged for leaving them in room. The bathroom had mold on the ceiling. The decor is dated. The restaurant isn’t open all day or night. No room service. I ordered uber eats. The staff was friendly and tried to make my stay as pleasant as possible. However the property is very run down.
Heather Joyce, 7-night trip

The property had an interesting vibe to it, and with a little polish would be a very nice stay in the center. Unfortunately when we went to bed the first night we noticed that the sheets were terribly stained and obviously had not been changed. While the property advertises wifi, it's only in the common areas and nothing in your room. The sink in the washroom was in terrible shape, the towel rack in the bathroom hangs right over the toilet so makes it challenging to dry your towels and use the bathroom. Finally my vehicle was damaged in the parking lot and I asked several times to have the video reviewed so we could determine who did it and they never got back to me so now i'm out 30 k for fixing it myself.
