Hotel Bussola di Hermes

Great hotel! The breakfast was really nice and walkable to the center if Anacapri. The shuttle service was great!

I have very mixed feelings concerning this hotel. It is owned by a brother and sister team. I know that they work very hard to keep up with the property. Rita (the sister) was extremely helpful, providing us tips and suggestions for our stay. This hotel does not have a pool, so after touring around the island all day, there was no real central place to relax and cool down. You get your beverages out of a vending machine. We ended spending more time by the marina and Capri which is a far away, but it gave us the island vibe we were looking for, The breakfast served is local continental (some meats, cheeses and breads), nothing to write home about. The rooms need updating and better maintenance. The air conditioning did not work during our entire stay. We had to have the safe swapped out because the one in the room first had all the batteries removed, so when I replaced the batteries, it still did not work. The walk to Anacapri, was not difficult, but it could take a long time if you get lost going through the windy small streets. While I know that the owners try really hard to keep up with the place, it needs a lot of maintenance to get it up to par with the other hotels and B&Bs in the area.

Not the easiest location to get to but I did not mind winding through the little village streets. Not in the heart of the village but close walk and safe area. Hotel rooms are fairly small but clean, and very nice terrace with Roman statues. Quiet room, good beds but definitely not for the physically challenged. The toilet and bidet were within inches of each other that it is near impossible to use the toilet with ease. Pleasant reception, although seemed hurried, was gracious enough to help with excursion plans. Nice breakfast. Close to Blue Grotto. Scenic walk downhill to grotto but make sure you get there very early (before 10am) unless you don’t mind waiting 2hours in line.

The property was very nice and clean. Breakfast was great! It was close to the main town of Anacapri. They stored our luggage and were very attentive to our needs. I didn’t like that they told us they provide transportation to and from the hotel which in the US means “free” and then at check-out charged us $30. Also at check-out, we were just expected to pay cash because their credit machine was down.

This little hotel is a gem. Not what I expected, but actually better. It was more like a bed and breakfast and less like a resort. The rooms were lovely and we had an amazing view of the Mediterranean. We were allowed to roam the grounds, ate lunch at a picnic table in the garden, and bobbed around in an above ground pool. One of our hosts spontaneously brought us a plate of apricots and plums from their trees that were warm from the sun and so delicious! Beds were nice, but Italian which for us fat Americans means a little too hard. Don’t be shy to call and see if they can pick you up in Anacapri, or even at the ferry if they’re able. There’s a charge for that but it’s less than the taxi. Be ready for a wild ride on narrow roads with crazy switchbacks as you climb up and up. Our stay was relaxing and peaceful and way too short. I loved this place.

The owners are super friendly and helpful. Loved my stay there. Anacapri is much calmer then capri yet close to everything. Had a wonderful time
