A beautiful resort nestled in beautiful vegetation giving the feeling of a slight jungle experience. This becomes even more true when a monkey or two show up as you are swimming or sun bathing. Food was tasty, service courtious and rooms clean. Highly recommended!!!
It was beautiful, the food was wonderful, the beach was lovely. Everything was top notch!
My husband and I stayed at Cala Luna for four nights in February and had a great experience there. We enjoyed the boutique nature of the hotel and while all the rooms were full, it never felt overwhelming or like there were too many people around. While it is situated on the beach, it’s very rocky and not really swimmable, however, there is a complementary happy hour every night during sunset. We went to Playa Tamarindo to surf (Cala Luna offers lessons for $50 pp) and Playa Avellanos for relaxation (highly recommend). We also spent time at Cala Luna’s pool, which was refreshing and we never had trouble getting chairs. The food was great – wonderful breakfast buffet (included in our stay) and lots of fresh, healthy options for lunch and dinner. The fish cooked in papaya curry was particularly good. The service went above and beyond – the entire staff was friendly and hospitable and the front desk was helpful with suggestions and arranging taxis into town when we didn’t feel like walking. We also took advantage of the complementary yoga and workout classes, which were a nice offer and helped break up all the sitting around and drinking! The only downside to Cala Luna was the beds, particularly the pillows which we found to be really lumpy and the bedding which was a little too light when you have the A/C on. Kind of disappointing to pay $300+/night and not get great sleep, but all in all we still had a good time here and would recommend to anyone looking for a boutique hotel e
Beautiful Hotel, well-maintained property and friendly staff. We had a deluxe room which felt more like a mini villa and very private. The hotel was just on the other side of the Tamarindo beach point, which for us was a bonus as we wanted to feel close to the Tamarindo strip/beach hustle but still far enough from it to feel secluded. You can walk to the beach from here but it's a bit of a hike, we had a car or I would consider the local golf cart rentals etc.. hotel offered a discount taxi service too in addition to free bicycles.. lots of options would 100% stay here again.
Our stay was extremely pleasurable and the staff is very friendly. The food and beverages were excellent and the included buffet was very satisfying. I would recommend a bike or cart rental to get back and forth from the main Tamarindo area as the walk is quite difficult especially during the mid day heat. As a quiet, relaxing base to come back to after enjoying the many activities this area of Costa Rica has to offer, I can recommend no better.
Staff was very nice and enjoyed our time at the hotel owners ranch where the owner personally spent time with us and gave us lemonade as we got ready for horseback riding and then afterwards played with her dogs
Everyone was amazing. Nice secluded area of beach perfect for sunset. Great photo shoot area. Breakfast was great. We are on our honeymoon and we were given a bottle of champagne on the house with some cut fruit. A short walk from downtown Tamarindo.
Style of property is unique and fitting to area of Costa Rica.
Cala Luna boutique hotel is very beautiful and right at the beach. Staff were very nice and friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay here however the restaurants inside the hotel should expand their food choices because there aren’t a lot of variety. Other than that this is a beautiful hotel to stay in. Tamarindo.
Beautiful boutique hotel, we loved everything about this place! The pool was perfect for our kids ages 5 & 7, it has a very large shallow area. The bar and both restaurants serve fantastic fresh and creative dishes. The little walk down to the beach was wonderful, the cocktail bar set up for sunset on the beach was wonderful! Most importantly the staff are super friendly and helpful :)
