This hotel is super convenient if you want to be on the waterfront. We were going to the boat show so it’s literally across the street which was great! However, there is a lot of construction going on in this area and it’s quite difficult to get to downtown. In addition, it’s uphill and there are quite a few stairs to climb.
The lobby is very nice and the rooms have been nicely renovated, and they are quite comfortable.
However, the oceanfront rooms were not as the photos indicate. The shape of the building (like a W) does not allow for many unobstructed Oceanview suites, and most of them are restricted ocean views.
At first we were given a lower floor but we were surrounded by the building to the left, and right and unattractive concrete paving stones below. So we were moved to room 626 which had a very noisy HVAC unit in it, so we had to move again and got a room facing the building! So yeah, don’t expect and unobstructed ocean view, unless you specifically request it. Also, the pool has a no hot tub.
And yes, there is a working freight railway behind the building as a previous review had mentioned but it doesn’t bother too much if one is facing the front of the building but one can still hear them going by.
