Barceló Vallarta is in the jungle next to the water with breathtaking views. We highly recommend it for your next vacation!
The property was beautiful and very clean. The beach was amazing and very easy to access and enjoy. Our children could snorkel, skim board, boogie board and swim in the ocean directly in front of the resort. The ocean in front of the hotel had great snorkeling But bring your own snorkel gear. We rented a skim board from a local kid at the village for the week it was great. Pool was clean and well staffed for drinks. The pools were heated and also includes two hot tubs which if you have been to Mexico not all hotels have hot tubs. Due to COVID the hotel was only about 1/4 full so only limited restaurants open each night. But the hotel would rotate each night which restaurant was available. But that is expected with limited people at the resort. I felt that that was not a problem considering we had the resort and beach almost to ourselves. Also for those who are concerned about COVID we had hand and feet washing stations at every elevator, bar and restaurant. Also hostesses would take your temperature at restaurants, bars, taxis and all main entrances. Including masks required at all indoor facilities. I would suggest anyone looking for a vacation to go here and I am already looking forward to booking next year. Also ask for Cesar Lopez at the buffet restaurant, he is so friendly and like family!!
I stayed in puerto Vallarta for 2 weeks, and by far barcelo was my favorite hotel I stayed in. My first impression doing the checkup was not the best one but after I talked to Lucy ( the manager) she made my stay so pleasant. They upgraded me to a room free of charge for a convenient I had. Staff there is extremely courteous and kind. Shout out to Giovanni Castro, that was our server for breakfast. He was so nice to us and always had a smile on his face. Thank you Veronica, Lucy and Giovanni for making our stay so pleasant. Will definitely come back there.
The property is great. The location is great. The views are great. The food is subpar. If you like red wine bring your own because I have had some bad red wines in my day and I’ve even drank a fair amount of it, but this house wine is the worst wine I’ve ever had. $2 Charles Shaw is a top shelf vintage compared to their house red (which is the only red served on the property). The food needs an overhaul but everything else was great.
The in room safe was not working and I kept my Louis Vuitton key chain with my apt keys in my backpack. I did not realize it was stolen from my bag. unfortunately I did not realize it was missing until I got home. Had to call emergency maintenance to unlock my door, costing me $100 and another $300 to replace my keys. The food is mediocre, they limit Speciality restaurant dining to only 1-2x depending on how many nights you stay. Drinks are very water down. The servers at restaurants were nice.
The vast majority of travelers in our groups and others all go extremely sick during the stay. As many people as this effected (we know of at least 40), and as quickly as it hit everyone, makes it almost certainly a contaminated food issue. We all spend two days of our trip stuck in our rooms throwing up and missing prepaid for excursions.
I loved the layout of the hotel. If you’re an Expedia gold member the perks are great. We got upgraded and the upgrade came with access to the cute VIP lounge which has premium self mixed beverages and a variety of tapas throughout the day. Restaurants were great and the buffet food was pretty awesome as well. The standard drinks are your typical all inclusive quality but I did notice they cleaned the cups better than at most other all inclusive places I’ve been (even though I always bring my own cup). The beds were so comfortable and the balcony was nice and comfortable. I loved it and will definitely return.
I liked that we had access to the beach. I did not like that our entire resort got some form of food poisoning.
The resort was beautiful, but that is about all i can say good about it. I booked 2 trips. One for my husband and myself, and one for friends. I did an upgrade for ours from deluxe, to deluxe premium. There was absolutely no difference!! We payed $265 extra, and when we asked about it, they said our room was bigger and we had a better view. Not accurate!! So don't waste your money on an upgrade. Food was mediocre at best, service was slow. Resort was half empty because of virus, so I would hate to see what it is like when it's full.
