Excellent hotel

Rooms dated and small not a 5 star hotel

Very comfortable hotel in a great Madrid location - around the corner from the Thyssen, about a 10 minute walk from the Prado, and .6 mile from the Reina Sofia. The decorations on the two ground floors are amazing. Two quibbles, one of which the hotel can’t do anything about - the square outside the hotel is used by a group of skateboarders. There is quite a bit of “clattering” which can be annoying if you’re in the hotel’s outside dining area. Second, the hotel’s breakfast buffet costs 23 euros. It is a nice spread, but 23 euros?

It was the one of the beautiful and best located hotel

Started off OK, but the sink drain was malfunctioning as well as water dripping from the ceiling. We were accommodated the next day by room change. The new room had a Ac malfunction. Also very noisy !!!It was a little bit of a hassle however the front desk staff was very nice .

Our stay was lovely. I thought from a health & safety view there were a few things that troubled me...

Why? All the 5* luxuries of course; VERY best location in Madrid; Amazing price for 5* luxury + location... But that’s only a small part! The reason is the STAFF - starting & ending with JAVIER!! I have stayed in major hotels in 6 continents over 50 years and NEVER encountered the kind of genuine care and dedicated service given by Javier. We arrived with several substantial problems that we had spent a small fortune on in Barcelona, yet been totally unable to resolve anything (think serious health problems requiring MAJOR meds needing specific prescriptions, major mechanical problems for an older Jag (remember we are in Spain) and more we won’t go into) Javier solved EVERYTHING in less than 24 hours!! Did I mention there was NO way I could induce him to accept a gratuity of any sort?! There is really no way to convey all this man did for me / us!! He is one in a million and deserves a MASSIVE raise!! (If Villa Real doesn’t give it to him your competitors are going to realize what a jewel you have and (try to - he’s so loyal I don’t think it would be easy!) steal him away!! Not to forget Sara at the front desk, Francisco who helps with bags and other things, the ever ready room service & housekeeping staff, and (I am mortified not to recall his name) the charming & always solicitous doorman!! I live in San Francisco, lived in NYC for years and have trouble thinking of a world capital I’ve not lived in/spent time in at least briefly; Villa Real is the BEST!! Go there ASAP!

Having booked a weekend away at this hotel, we were impressed by the warm welcome on arrival. The hotel offers clean, comfortable rooms at a fair price but it's the service that's 5* ++++ that shines. It's a centrally located, spotlessly clean, traditional style hotel, but also some quirky modern touches - which we really liked. Unfortunately, late on night one we had a problem with an aggressive neighbour in the next room. The Manager swooped onto action immediately, controlled the situation, offered us an upgrade or a move to their sister hotel close by, due to this guests behaviour. The police were called and Xavier, the manager, couldn't have been more apologetic and sympathetic. Quite honestly, I couldn't be more impressed by the care and attention the team showed my partner and I after this unfortunate altercation. We moved further down the street to a sister hotel and they included breakfast free of charge for the remaining 2 days, plus a fruit basket and cava was sent to our room. I travel a lot but rarely post - but they really went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable weekend and they all deserve recognition for their attentiveness and prompt action.

Nice, more traditional hotel. Walls were pretty thin, but a pleasant place to stay.
