I liked the location, the energy of the Bob concept, the attention to detail. However, the apartment, though it had everything, felt a bit full (I think a table that could collapse would for example save a bit of space). Also, the bed and pillow were not optimal.

No fit for habitation

The ceiling of the bedroom is 5ft 6in. I am average height at 5ft 9in and have to stoop. This property is unfit for adult occupation and should never have been listed. The stairs are steep with only one rail and no anti slip strips. The kitchen needs maintenance, and there is no microwave, just a hob and kettle. The building itself is lovely, but with a bedroom you can't stand up in, that's irrelevant.

Pros and cons but would stay again

I have mixed feelings about this Bob W location as it was so different than our past experience at the chain. It looks like there are several Bob W units in the building that also include other types of rental. As such, there is no community feel and the shared room is a basement locker with limited supply. The location is not as central as we had expected and it doesn’t feel like you are in a neighborhood, but it a short walk to everything and the tram passes right in front. The unit was roomy with good WiFi. The flooding washroom had a strong musky smell. The unit we stayed in was on the first floor and didn’t have a/c but we were able to obtain fans to cool it down as the temperature was very warm during our stay. Bob W’s chat service was helpful.

I got a very bad impression about the onwer of the apartment - I paid the full amount in advance but he charged additionally € 36 for 4x breakfasts which I never booked and consumed - a refund would not possible because it lays in the past (??) he mailed me. That is very unserious buisness.

Thank you. Good hotel for the best price. It was hot in the room because the building is historical and they are not allowed to install AC (the explanation I got). It was enough to open a window but I won’t choose this hotel if I stay in summer. There were some fans available that you can get in the basement but I didn’t need them as mentioned above.

Room was good but ridiculously small shower not good. We accidentally went to the wrong room on check-in but our code worked on that as well! Someone else’s bags in there. This is a security risk but no one was interested. Appalling. Also constantly bombarded with email etc - irritating and unnecessary. Won’t use you again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it exceeded expectations. The double bed was curtained off which made it feel separate to the rest of the room, and it was perfectly fine for four of us to stay here. Everything was very clean and tidy with thoughtful little touches and the company clearly has good values at heart. Would definitely stay in a Bob again. We found everything we needed in the hotel room and more. Definitely recommend for a stay in Tallinn.

I booked a room for my very picky & needy huspand and his buddy for a weekend poker trip. My hubby typically will always critic something, so this place has to be great bc he was praising it; the whole concept. ”The bathroom was a bit small though, but still ok” was is only little critic.

Perfect for my purposes

Bob W Avangard is located directly across from Tallinn University. Since I was attending a conference at the university, the location was perfect for me. The bed was very comfortable and the space was clean. The lack of any personnel on-site was no problem except that after I checked out, it would have been nice to have been able to leave my luggage to keep until my flight departure that night. I ended up using the Bounce app and leaving my luggage at Tallinn City Bike, which worked fine. I saw someone complaining about the kitchen area not having a microwave, and yes - a microwave would have been nice, but I'm not sure I would have actually used one even if it had been available. I did really appreciate the espresso machine.

Disappointing and disastrous

We arrived at 8:30 PM on a Thursday with our two young children but we could not even enter the apartment which uses 'codes' on a door. Before our arrival, after paying in full, we were provided with a code and were instructed that we could briefly park in the car park near the building to unload our luggage. We were then sent 3 or 4 different new codes, none of which worked. Each response took about 10-15 minutes, meaning we spent over an hour trying to access our room, with two upset children sitting in a car. It's hard to describe how incredibly stressful this situation was. Our car was illegally parked, our children were hungry and crying, and both my wife and I were exhausted and frustrated. By the time we finally gained access to our room, it was well past 10 PM. All the nearby restaurants were closed, leaving us with no options to feed our kids, who were understandably very upset. Adding insult to injury, we received a parking fine due to the extended delay. The entire ordeal caused us to sleep in late the following day, which shortened our time to explore Tallinn. Besides this, when we finally got into the apartment there were no bed sheets for the 2nd bed and we had to interact with Bob W on whatsApp and then finally had to go down late at night to the basement to get the bedding. We've contacted the hosts and owners three times to try to resolve the situation after our stay, but they have refused to even answer the emails.

Even though there was no one on-site, all the instructions were very clear. Check-in was super easy, and the location is great. There were also lots of thoughtful little gifts, including an instant camera, which my child really enjoyed. Overall, the stay was a great experience and excellent value for money. Truly a disappointment. I’m out on the Bob W brand Number one complaint would be the entry door slamming every time someone walks in all night long them not being able to change rooms when requested. Washers and dryers not fully functioning. This was confirmed by snow resident and a member of the cleaning staff. In addition I hope you like dated and beat up ikea everything. Stained chair, laminate peeling on the dresser, shower backs up all over the floor, shower grout is yellow from the constant water, dirty water bottles, fake plants that are also dirty, tacky uneven pictures on the wall, beat up dining table, beat up floor trim, bathroom smells moldy, missing light bulbs.
